Posted by Adarsh on September 12th, 2011 Filed in Contests, Winners 7 Comments »

Greetings CodeCheffers,

The Challenge for September 2011 has concluded, and once again, there was no exclusive winner on the Indian side of things. On the global side, however, we saw a clean victory, of which we shall inform you in just a few lines. :)

Before moving on though, I’d like to mention that this month’s participation very nearly equalled the highest ever participation for a long contest; I am sincerely pleased to see so many people constructively using their free time. :)

Another unusual highlight was the single successful submission for the challenge problem TILT… what happened guys? The problem setter himself was surprised.

A massive under-10 tie saw the 9th rank cover nearly 140 people! Talk about neck-and-neck…

Now, for the honorary problem setters and tester, whom all of us here are deeply ingratiated to:

David Stolp, Gennady Korotkevitch, Saransh Bansal, Imran Sunny and Vamsi Kavala prepared the problems while  Shilp Gupta sampled them before they were served to you.

Let’s look at some Statistics and then move on to see the final winners list.

The May CookOff has ended!

Posted by Harsh on June 1st, 2011 Filed in Contests, Winners No Comments »

Hi Guys,

The May 2010 Cook-off has ended. A well balanced problem set, in which we saw some of the big names participate just a day before the ACM ICPC world finals.

This contest was made possible by our new problem setter and tester Anil Kishore and Harsha S respectively. And they did an awesome job at it. Thank you guys so much for the fantastic job in putting together this problem set!

There was an issue with judging Java submissions for one of the problems, which was reported by Mikhail during the contest, and after identifying the issue we decided to rejudge them. The rank-list changed after the contest was over, which was unfortunate. We sincerely apologize to vitar and laycurse, as they have been the most affected due to this lapse from our side.

We also had an issue with our commenting system during the contest which was caused due to a bug in our system. Apologies for the inconvenience caused. This has been fixed now and we request you to get back to the editorials and start commenting your doubts to our problem setter and tester. Your queries will be definitely answered there.

And we are also facing another issue with viewing solutions for the COOK10 problems. We are yet to figure out why this happened. We are investigating this and this may take us some time. We will keep you posted, please bear with us until then.

Finally, here are the  top 10 best performers of the May 2011 Cook-Off:

01. mikhailOK
02. vitar
03. laycurse
04. EgorK
05. gennady.korotkevich
06. allin
07. niyaznigmatul
08. Milanin
09. dzhulgakov
10. emppu

May Cook-off re-scheduled to 29th May, 2011

Posted by Harsh on May 18th, 2011 Filed in Announcement, Contests 1 Comment »

Hey CodeCheffers,

As you may have noticed, over the past couple of months, we have tried to schedule all our CookOffs on the second last Sunday of every month. However, things will be a little different this month.

Due to the May CookOff clashing with both, Google’s CodeJam and CodeForces’s contests, we are re-scheduling the Cookoff to the 29th of May, 2011. i.e. The last Sunday this month.

Hope to see you all there.

Regards,
Harsh Munshaw
